A Fisherman's Life

THE LIFE of PAUL the FISHERMAN

There is a fisherman named Paul Maksimilian. He is 35 years old. He was born in Sikka.

His parent's occupation was farming. Paul has a wife who works only as a housewife and is 32 years old. They all live in Sikka. Paul has been working as a fisherman since 2010. He only graduated from elementary school in Sikka. Apart from being a fisherman, after the fishing season, Paul does odd jobs as a construction worker to meet his family's living needs. Paul only has a small canoe which is no linger suitable and was risky when sailing, but it was his duty duty to earn a living. The catch is snapper, finfish and tuna and he can catch 10-15 kg per sail depending on the season. The fishing season is in February and

November. He sells his catch to the local markets. For one sail he receives 200,000 - 150,000rp or $10 -$13. Paul lives at home with only his mother and his wife. In a month a craftsman's casual income only earns 800,000rp or $55. That income is not enough to support his family, so life is full of difficulties. currently, he hopes that someone can help him get a boat that is good and big enough so that his income can increase and can meet the living needs of his entire family.
